What We Do

Promotor LeadershiP Development

We build community through the empowerment of residents who play an active role in the decision-making that impacts our neighborhood. By activating the leadership of parents and residents, we build a sustainable community that improves the well-being of all in the community.

Early Education

In Mayfair, we are working to prepare our children to succeed in school. SOMOS operates the Cesar Chavez Family Resource Center and organizes a broad network of partnering organizations and neighborhood leaders who are working to ensure students are set up for success.

Community Organizing

We start by tapping into the community’s desires, whether that is having more community engagement at our local schools or supporting neighborhood-wide projects. We then uplift and empower parents and residents to help them think differently about what our community could look like.

Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot un-educate the person that has learned how to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore.
